AAMOS Fellow Member Pre-requisites

An oral and maxillofacial surgeon at Louisville Oral Surgery and Dental Implants, Christopher C. Babcock, MD, has experience with dental extractions, implants, and oral pathology. Christopher C. Babcock, MD, belongs to numerous industry-related associations, such as the American Dental Association (ADA) and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS).

AAMOS is a professional organization that represents over 10,000 oral and maxillofacial surgeons in the country. By advancing the profession and promoting continued education, AAMOS’s goal is to assure excellence in patient care. There are currently 13 membership categories, ranging from fellow and allied staff to resident membership.

The most common category, with approximately half of the membership body, are fellows members who have voting rights and can hold office. To become an AAMOS fellow, the individual must complete the advanced oral and maxillofacial surgery education program accredited by the ADA’s dental accreditation commission and be an ADA member. Another pre-requisite for becoming a fellow AAMOS member is to hold a diplomate certification from the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, practice in the US, and be a member of their state’s OMS society.
